Scholarships

DUBAL provides scholarships to eligible students, enabling them to pursue higher education at university level (with preference being given to UAE Nationals). After completing their studies, students are committed to remain with DUBAL for a period of time equivalent to the period of the scholarship received.

Disciplines

Preference is given to disciplines that are relevant to DUBAL's current and future needs, namely:

Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Chemical Engineering

Other majors, as per approval of the adjudication panel:

Civil Engineering
Electronics Engineering
Information Technology
Marketing
Finance or Accounting

Eligibility

UAE Nationals

Applications will be considered only from individuals who meet the following criteria:

UAE National citizenship (holding a valid UAE passport and Khulasat Al Qaid)
An aggregate score of at least 85 per cent in high school academic evaluations
Possession of an Acceptance Letter from an accredited university for a course of study in one of the above disciplines
Personal commitment to self-development
Preparedness to work for DUBAL for a period of time equal to or greater than the period of the scholarship
Willingness to work for DUBAL during the summer vacation period for the duration of the scholarship, so as to obtain practical training and work experience (up to five weeks per academic year)

Non- National Arabs

Applications will be considered only from Non-National Arabs who have already completed one year at university and have an overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.5.

Scholarship benefits

Successful DUBAL scholarship applicants receive:

50 per cent of tuition fees
A monthly stipend, paid on a sliding scale as follows:
- First year, AED 3,000 per month
- Second year, AED 3,500 per month
- Third year, AED 4,000 per month
- Fourth and Fifth year, AED 4,500 per month
As of September 2008, the stipend paid by DUBAL to each scholarship student has been increased by AED 500.00 per month. This additional remuneration will be retained by DUBAL and paid to the student on successful completion of six months' service at DUBAL after graduation.
Additional, special rewards are paid to students who achieve high grade point average (GPA) scores, as follows:
- Semester GPA > 3.50
  AED 3,000 (paid at the end of the relevant semester)
- Semester GPA 3.00 to 3.50
  AED 2,000 (paid at the end of the relevant semester)
